Julie O'Toole
Julie O’Toole MD MPH is co-founder, President, and Chief Medical Officer (emerita) of Kartini Clinic. Dr. O’Toole is a board certified pediatrician and has been in private pediatric practice for more than three decades. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society for Adolescent Medicine, and NEDA (National Eating Disorders Association). She also has a master’s degree in Public Health (International Health). As well as being an avid gardener and bookworm, she is the proud parent of four grown children and grandmother of four active boys and four delightful girls.
Naghmeh Moshtael
Naghmeh Moshtael MD is the Medical Director of Kartini Clinic. A board certified pediatrician Dr. Moshtael is also a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She completed her pediatric residency at Oregon Health Sciences University and served as Chief Resident there until joining us full time in 2006. She became Kartini Clinic’s first full partner in 2009. Dr Moshtael holds a master’s degree in International Studies and Community Health Development. She is the proud parent of a daughter, and her hobbies include gardening, knitting and traveling around the world with her husband and child.
Shanna Greene
Shanna Greene is the Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Kartini Clinic. She worked in a general pediatric practice for eleven years before helping to found Kartini Clinic in 1998. Shanna has a Bachelor of Science from Portland State University. She enjoys taking turns dancing in the rain with her children and exploring Portland’s many parks with her energetic dog, Harley Quinn. The most recent additions to the family are two rescue cats, Malcolm and Luna.
Sheila Scrobogna
Sheila Scrobogna is Program Director for the Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient programs at Kartini Clinic. She graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts and received her Master’s of International Communication at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. After finishing her degree at Macquarie she traveled around the world and has now returned to Portland with her husband to be closer to family. She loves being outside in the sun, traveling, going on adventures, playing with her dog, and cuddling her two children.
Morgan O'Toole
Morgan O’Toole is Chief Executive Officer of Kartini Clinic. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Reed College in 1994 and a Master’s from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, Monterey, CA. After stints in New York and London, he returned in 2003 to the greener pastures of the Pacific Northwest. After working in various positions at Kartini Clinic Morgan was appointed CEO in 2008.
Megan Maples
Megan Maples is the Business Office Director at Kartini Clinic. She grew up in Boise, Idaho and moved to Eugene to attend the University of Oregon. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music and traveling.
Sherrill Gandsey
Sherrill Gandsey is registered nurse and the Program Nurse at Kartini Clinic. Before joining the Kartini team, she was a pediatric Intensive Care Unit nurse at Randall Children’s Hospital for over 20 years. Sherrill has worked with the Kartini team for over 10 years and is the staff liaison between the hospital and clinic. In her spare time, Sherrill is a Disaster Nurse volunteer for the American Red Cross and most recently assisted back east with families affected by Hurricane Sandy. Her hobbies are dancing, tennis, boating and most important spending time with her family.
Leslie Weisner
Leslie Weisner is a Family Therapist at Kartini Clinic. Raised in Connecticut, she earned a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Southern Connecticut State University. Leslie has been a therapist for more than 20 years, working almost exclusively with eating disorders. She enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and their dog Tulip.
Steve Nemirow
Steve Nemirow is a co-founder of Kartini Clinic. After gamely serving in many capacities Steve retired as Kartini Clinic’s legal counsel in 2023. Steve graduated from Reed College and Hastings College of Law. He is the parent and step-parent of 3 daughters and a grown son. He now spends his days painting pictures and writing poems.
Amy Stauffer
Amy Stauffer is a Milieu Manager in the Partial Hospitalization Program at Kartini Clinic. She earned a Psychology degree from Westminster College in Missouri and moved to Portland in 1996. Amy resides with her son Beckham, boxer Ruby and her therapy hamster named Pansy. Amy enjoys almost anything outdoors; particularly exploring Oregon’s geology. She spends most of her free time on rock collecting adventures.
Lindsey Weber
Lindsey Weber is the Kitchen Coordinator at Kartini Clinic. Lindsay grew up in Indiana and attended Purdue University, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Public Horticulture. In 2006 she packed all of her belongings into her car and headed to Portland. She spends most of her time hanging out with her sweetheart, Sean, and their two cats, Hooligan and Lucile. She enjoys listening to music, singing, dancing, working on puzzles, and and wowing everyone with her extensive knowledge of song lyrics.
Ashley Rogers
Ashley Rogers is the Utilization Review Specialist at Kartini Clinic. An Ohio native, Ashley worked in the design industry in New York City between college and graduate school. She also taught college Art History before spending several years in the health insurance field. She enjoys reading, cooking, playing with her dog, and exploring the Pacific Northwest.
Mary Gunesch
May Gunesch works with schools throughout the Northwest to help them support Kartini School students as they strive to smoothly transition out of, and back into, their hometown schools. Mary is a licensed Oregon school administrator and teacher with many years of experience. She had led schools through accreditation, taught at the graduate level, and published articles about learning. Mary has a Master’s degree from Lewis and Clark College in Portland. Her favorite activities include reading, skiing, and hiking up mountains with her dog, Boomer. Mary and her husband are the proud parents of two children: one currently in college and one recent college graduate.
Kaitlin Crowell
Kaitlin Crowell is a Milieu Counselor in the Partial Hospitalization Program at Kartini Clinic. She feels strongly about perseverance and looks for the positive in any situation, which she learned growing up in the foster care system. She plans to pursue her passion in American Sign Language (ASL) and will continue her work with children and adolescents. Kaitlin loves to spend time adventuring with her partner and pup, Molly, who is her pride and joy and looks forward to traveling to many interesting locations.
LaJames Wilson
LaJames Wilson is a Milieu Counselor in the Partial Hospitalization Program at Kartini Clinic. He attended Portland State University with a focus on business communications. When he isn’t working he enjoys exercising, playing video games, and cuddling with his two cats Sencha and Remy. One of his passions is volunteering throughout his community and helping others.
Ashley D. Guthrie
is a Milieu Therapist in the Partial Hospitalization Program at Kartini Clinic. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Neuroscience as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Music Humanities from UC San Diego. Ashley also received her Bachelor in Music Therapy from Pacific University and is a Licensed and Board Certified Music Therapist. She completed specialization training certifying her as a Neurologic Music Therapist. Ashley has clinical experience serving patients in acute mental health, substance abuse, individuals and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, various neurological disorders, TBI, Alzheimer’s and more. She enjoys songwriting, playing guitar, singing, and spending time with her senior dog Mika.
Christine Betlinski
Christine Betlinski is the Kartini School teacher. She originally moved to Oregon in order to attend the University of Oregon, where she studied biology and environmental science. She then pursued ornithological research at Portland State University. Through the years, Christine has taught at the collegiate for both the University of Oregon and for Portland State University within the biology departments. She is a lover of the great outdoors, and can be found hiking around the Pacific Northwest with her dog Paul when she is not at Kartini!
Bliss Croton
Bliss Croton is an Intake Coordinator and HR Assistant at Kartini Clinic. They graduated from Portland State University with a B.S. in Public Health Studies and Psychology and has previously worked in crisis support and suicide prevention. Outside of work, Bliss can be found listening to history podcasts, caring for their menagerie of animals (including a dog, a hedgehog, and several lizards) or plotting their next outdoor adventure.
Lydia Robbins
Lydia Robbins is a Care Coordinator at Kartini Clinic. Originally from the East Coast, she moved to Portland in 2014 and has been embracing the West Coast state of mind ever since. Her background includes experience in spas, mental health treatment centers, and caretaking, all fulfilling her underlying passion of helping people. This passion led her to pursue an education in health coaching with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Away from work, you’ll most likely find Lydia adventuring with her family, riding her bike, or reading and studying.
Nikhil Rao
Nikhil Rao MD MSc is a triple board certified pediatric psychiatrist at Kartini Clinic, with extensive experience across multiple settings including eating disorders, neuro-developmental disorders (such as autism), and the interface between medical and psychiatric illness. Dr. Rao is a member of Oregon Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. After completing his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry in 2017, Dr. Rao went on to achieve board certification in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and also obesity medicine. Dr. Rao’s clinical interests lie in untangling complex diagnosis and treatment challenges in individuals with multiple mental and physical health issues, and identifying the right mix of psychotherapy and medication approaches to best serve the individual. He is fond of teaching and has written or lectured at audiences of all educational levels at the local, regional, and national level. Dr. Rao currently works in several settings including with at-risk youth, inpatient psychiatry, and works with Kartini Clinic’s team part-time to provide psychiatric consultation and evaluation.
Smadar Megnazi
Smadar Megnazi is a family therapist at Kartini Clinic. She earned her Master’s degree in Creative Arts from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Smadar has been working as a therapist for more than a decade and has clinical experience working with kids and teens. Her goal is to support the kids and provide space for them to develop the skills needed to support themselves better and grow with confidence. She enjoys spending time with her husband, four sons, and dog Milo. She loves hiking in the summer and skiing in the wintertime. She loves to read and to travel or combine them both!
Amanda Clary
Amanda Clary is a human resources assistant at Kartini Clinic. She has a passion for serving people in any capacity. She enjoys living the country life in Newberg, OR with her young daughter and husband. They enjoy kayaking, gardening, and spending as much time as possible outdoors.
Mia Koenig
Mia Koenig is a Family Therapist at Kartini Clinic. She is a San Francisco native who earned her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology at California State University, Chico. Mia also received her Masters of Arts in Marriage, Couple and Family Therapy at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. Mia has done research involving mindfulness, impulsivity and anxiety. She has clinical experience serving adolescents in school settings as well as families and individuals with eating disorders. Mia can be found hiking, enjoying the coast, practicing yoga and hanging out with her cat, Mac.
Kelsey Knight-King
Kelsey Knight-King is a Milieu Therapist in the Partial Hospitalization Program at Kartini Clinic. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Oregon State University and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Seminary. She has clinical experience working with children, teens and adults, especially those experiencing grief, trauma, identity exploration, and attachment wounds. She loves reading, flower arranging, camping, and drawing; preferably with her three children.
Michaela Cribb
Michaela Cribb PNP is a pediatric nurse practitioner at Kartini Clinic. Since 2012 Michaela has worked in a variety of acute care and primary care settings, having previously worked as an ER nurse in Montreal, Canada and Fresno, California. Originally from Vancouver Island, Canada Michaela moved to the USA in 2008, when she met her husband Jose. They relocated to Portland in 2014 and now have two beautiful children and one hairless cat (Queen Fluffy). Michaela is passionate about pediatric healthcare and is an associate professor at University of Portland, focusing on pediatrics in the FNP program there. When not working or teaching, Michaela enjoys hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and traveling with her family. There is a whole, wonderful world out there and Michaela wants to explore as much of it as possible.
Ami Hakanson
Ami Hakanson is a Patient Account Representative at Kartini Clinic. She grew up in SW Portland and graduated from Portland State University with a BA in Musicology and a minor in Psychology. When she’s not at the clinic Ami can be found playing folk music, learning to skateboard, or hiking.
Abby Clough
Abby Clough is a Patient Account Representative at Kartini Clinic. They have lived and worked in Portland for the past 7 years. Abby was born in Pendleton, OR and grew up in Coos Bay, OR. After acquiring their BS from Portland State University they worked full-time at a bike shop as a mechanic. In their free time, Abby enjoys biking around the city, playing and coaching competitive ultimate frisbee, and entertaining their needy cat. Abby is looking forward to helping families navigate the medical system and making it possible for everyone to access the care they need.
Risa Regory
Risa Regory is the Credentialing Specialist at Kartini Clinic. She is a Portland native and received her Business Tech Certification from Portland Community College in 1991. That same year she also began working in the medical field for a small pediatric gastroenterology practice in North Portland where she was a team member for six years. From there she worked for 19 years at a large multi-specialty group practice in their adult gastroenterology division. She is passionate about advocating for patients to receive superior care and strongly believes that educating them about healthcare and insurance functionality will enable them to make the best decisions for their individual needs. Her favorite pass-time is being with her husband, son and two granddaughters. Risa also loves to create large and small scale abstract paintings, experiment with vegan recipes and design jewelry. Her bucket list includes: learning to play the acoustic guitar and vacation in Italy.
Shany Yizhaki
Shany Yizhaki is a Milieu Counselor at Kartini Clinic. She attended Portland State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Shany is passionate about working with youths and vulnerable populations. Outside of work Shany enjoys art, hiking, and learning about new cultures.
Jake Yoshioka
Jake Yoshioka is a Medical Assistant at Kartini Clinic. He is currently in the process of attending nursing school. He spends some of his free time playing music and board games with friends. He is a new transplant to Portland from Oakland, CA and is still very undecided about the rain.
Kathryn Arland
is an on-call family therapist at Kartini Clinic. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Washington State University and a Master of Science in clinical psychology from Capella University. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue working as part of the Kartini family. Katie lives on the Washington coast with her husband Lorne and a variety of horses, cats, and dogs. In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, horseback riding, reading, writing, cooking, and traveling.
Caitlin Smith
Caitlin Smith is the Kitchen Assistant at Kartini Clinic. Caitlin graduated from Clark College’s culinary program in 2010 and has worked in all kinds of restaurants in the NW over the last decade. She’s happy to put her culinary skills to good use at Kartini. Caitlin enjoys baking, hosting dinner parties, listening to music, and hanging out with her partner Jeff and their two cats, Lucille and Liza.
Kendall Minteer
Kendall Minteer is a counselor in the Intensive Outpatient Program at Kartini Clinic. After living in Northern California for most of her life, she is currently attending the University of Portland to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Integrative Health and Wellness Studies. She plans on becoming a licensed therapist and loves helping people in any way that she can. In her free time, Kendall can be found reading a good fiction book, watering one of her many plants, taking a walk outside, or spending time with her friends and family.
