Important Study on Family Based Treatment of Anorexia Nervosa

I am writing this blog to connect our parents and readers to a study on the effects of treatment for anorexia nervosa on the parents of children who suffer from this illness.

Laura Collins made me aware of this study from Fordham University, and I was very pleased to see it.  We have too little information on the impact of eating disorder treatment on parents, especially since the advent of family based treatments.  They will look at “parental attitudes and traits”, “moods”,  “parental relationship with the child’s other parent”, “impact on other adult relationships”, “how you cope with the stress”, “attitude on mental illness in general” and “effect on the parents’ own health”.  It is entirely confidential and de-identified (anonymous).

I urge anyone whose child has been cared for by us to consider participating in this brief questionnaire  (if prompted, the password is participate, all lower case).

Oh yes, and Happy New Year!
